Hungary, Serbia, and Republika Srpska are ready to develop cultural ties with Russia, stated the representative of the Russian President for international cultural cooperation, Mikhail Shvydkoy.
“A lot depends on the political position of a country’s leadership. In this sense, for example, my recent trip to Hungary, where I met with representatives of various ministries and cultural institutions, showed that Hungary is ready to renew cultural contacts and that with Russian institutions, not with private representatives of Russian culture,” Shvydkoy said.
He added that the situation is the same with Serbia, which, as he says, is developing quite actively, and in this sense, there is a fairly wide representation of Russian culture in Serbia, as well as in Republika Srpska, reports TASS.
Shvydkoy noted that this year Serbia will host celebrations for the 20th anniversary of the existence of the Forum of Slavic Cultures.
According to him, the choice of this Balkan country as the venue for the celebration was made due to its “acceptability to all participating countries” of this initiative.
