Political analyst Dragomir Anđelković stated that the Constitution of Republika Srpska, which was adopted 32 years ago, proves that the statehood of Republika Srpska is older than the statehood of contemporary Dayton’s Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).
“The Constitution is a confirmation and a symbol of statehood. It is very important that the Constitution of Republika Srpska precedes the Constitution of BiH,” said Anđelković.
He reminded that the Constitution of Republika Srpska /Serb Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina/ was adopted in 1992, while the Constitution of BiH was adopted in 1995 as part of the Dayton Agreement.
“This numbers game testifies to something very significant, which is that Republika Srpska is older than contemporary BiH,” emphasized Anđelković.
He stated that BiH, as a republic of the former Yugoslavia, declared independence illegally and contrary to the will of one of the constitutive peoples, while contemporary BiH is the result of a compromise of all three constitutive peoples.
BiH, he added, was created three years after Republika Srpska, whose Constitution as valid was recognized as such by the Dayton Agreement.
“This is a message to all who dispute the statehood of Republika Srpska, namely, that statehood is older than that of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and BiH can only survive as a community of all three equal peoples and two entities. Whoever wants to disturb this, leads BiH towards ruin,” highlighted Anđelković.
The Assembly of the Serb People in BiH adopted the Constitution on February 28, 1992, which was unanimously adopted on the foundations of the Declaration of Establishment, and which guaranteed full equality and equality of the peoples and citizens of the Republic.
The Constitution of Republika Srpska, which is still in effect today with certain amendments, was adopted before the outbreak of tragic conflicts and the unilateral Bosniak and Croatian declaration of independence of BiH after a referendum held on March 1, in which Serbs did not participate.
