Dodik: I expect the EU to set a precise date for negotiations

The Republic of Srpska remains a constructive partner in all processes on Bosnia and Herzegovina’s path to the European Union. This time, we proceed with confidence that the representatives of the “troika” will remain committed to the common goal, which has the consensus of all parties, and that is the European path, said the President of the Republic of Srpska, Milorad Dodik.

He emphasized that this is the only path Bosnia and Herzegovina can take forward.

“It is clear that accusations coming from the SDA (Party of Democratic Action) create problems for the ‘troika,’ but the interest of all parties should be in reforms that will make it more functional and stable,” Dodik pointed out.

He stated that dialogue and agreement are the basis for stability and functionality, and that is what the SDA has been trying to bypass for years.

“We are not naive to think that the representatives of the ‘troika’ would not try something similar, but it is clear that they do not have the capacity for such actions. In this context, they are more aware that they cannot pass stories of Bosniak domination over the other two constituent nations, and this is evident in their readiness for dialogue,” Dodik stated.

Dodik mentioned that the SDA has revealed its true intentions through announced blockades.

“But that will not prevent us from actively working further and doing everything to implement the necessary reforms. Bakir Izetbegović’s statements show his despair because he has hit rock bottom. Calling the criminal Mehmedagić a patriot can only be done by either a misguided person or one who is in great fear of what might be revealed in the coming period. That patriot, as Izetbegović calls him, worked on his orders,” stated the President of Srpska.

He said that from joint institutions, they have turned them into SDA institutions, and with their dangerous actions, they have been tearing apart Bosnia and Herzegovina with the support of foreigners.

“Now there are some new people here who were part of those structures, and in their statements, we notice traces of the time when the SDA had a say in everything. However, they do not have the capacity to go so far, even with the support of foreigners, because the SNSD (Serb Democratic Party) secured that the voice of Srpska would be indispensable by winning the previous elections. We want to negotiate and will do so, but in this space, Bosniaks will never dominate and implement their plan. Neither America, nor Britain, nor Germany, nor true nor false representatives of the foreign factor will help them, not because I say so, but because it is written in the Constitution and in all the documents on which Bosnia and Herzegovina is maintained and on which the law is based,” stated Dodik.

Dodik reminded us that February is approaching, adding that the last meeting provided enough space for optimism.

“The Republic of Srpska will stick to its positions, and we hope that the accusations from the SDA will not discourage the ‘troika.’ Bosnia and Herzegovina has been imprisoned and stuck for too long due to their dangerous actions, and representatives of the Bosniaks could learn something from that,” said Dodik.

He conveyed that false citizenship is a wasted project and an illusion in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“The Republic of Srpska wants the Federation to function equally successfully, to receive a budget, to get things moving, to work on projects in both parts, to cooperate, and to respect each other. I want to believe that successful cooperation based on mutual respect is possible and that the effort shown by all representatives of the ruling parties will be recognized by the EU. Much has been done, and Europe will show with its decisions this time whether it is serious about Bosnia and Herzegovina. I expect the EU to set a precise date for negotiations and make the process credible. Anything else would strengthen distrust,” concluded Dodik.
