“Exhibition ‘Lyrical Portraits’ by Sanja Umicevic Opens at Sreten Stojanovic Gallery in Prijedor”
The exhibition, hosted at the Sreten Stojanovic Gallery in Prijedor, showcases the work of Sanja Umicevic, a member of the Association of Visual Artists of Prijedor, who is displaying her artwork independently for the first time in this exhibition space.
“I have presented about twenty drawings created using ink, pen, brush, and a combination of techniques on paper in this exhibition. I have been engaged in drawing as a specific visual language since my early childhood, finding inspiration within it,” stated Umicevic to reporters.
She added that the motifs in her artwork belong to the symbolism of female portraits, incorporating themes of birds.
“I believe that the female being is multifaceted, and throughout art history, much has been written, worked, and drawn about it,” emphasized the artist, who has previously held several solo exhibitions and participated in numerous collective exhibitions and art colonies throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Daria Vujatovic, an art theoretician, highlighted that drawing is one of the most genuine and sincere techniques in visual arts.
“Sanja Umicevic has used this medium for a kind of self-resolution, channeling and visualizing introspective emotions,” mentioned Vujatovic during the exhibition opening.
Boris Eremin, the gallery director, announced that this exhibition marks the final showcase of this year’s exhibiting season.
“We had almost 20 exhibitions, hosting over 50 events with various artistic content and over five international exhibitions,” Eremin stated.
He also announced a rich lineup for the upcoming season, including visits from some of the biggest names in visual arts, music, and literature worldwide.
Sanja Umicevic’s exhibition will remain open until January 5th.
