I’d prefer Kristijan Šmit not to appear at the trial of President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik and Acting Director of the Official Gazette, Miloš Lukić. But then the Court must issue an arrest warrant, and I expect that he will flee, and that will be the definitive solution for BiH,” said Radovan Višković, Prime Minister of Republika Srpska.

“Judge Jasmina Ćosić Dedović said the role of the High Representative will be resolved in the main hearing. To resolve it, a man needs to appear. The prosecutor mentions Milorad Dodik as the accused in four places but refers to Šmit in 20 places and his decisions. So, if Dodik is in court, then Šmit should be there too,” Višković emphasized.

He underlined that Šmit must present the paper that verifies his legality in BiH instead of just talking.

“He has to clarify based on which law he can legislate, answer how it’s possible for the President to sign a decree on July 7th, and then Šmit makes a decision on the same day, announced on the OHR website on July 8th, not in the Official Gazette. How is Dodik being held accountable for an alleged offense he committed on July 7th, something that Šmit announced on July 8th? These are all questions he will have to answer. I’m confident this process will turn into a trial of Šmit and BiH,” added Višković.”
