President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, stated his belief in the independence of Srpska, suggesting that it will have to happen one day. Dodik mentioned that he could be responsible for this in the future.
“When Donald Trump won in America, I intended to declare the independence of Republika Srpska, but some around me got scared, so I didn’t do it. I must say I regret it today. But if Trump were to win again, I think I wouldn’t hesitate,” Dodik said in an interview with TV Prva.
Regarding the US sanctions imposed on him and his family, Dodik expressed that it’s a sign of weakness and that he doesn’t have the right to sacrifice the national interests of Republika Srpska for his comfort.
He proudly defended his family, describing them as aware and responsible individuals who struggle in life, which seems to bother Americans.
Dodik emphasized his rights as an elected official to choose how he leads politics, shifting the focus from criminal allegations to the criticism of his rhetoric, which he believes irks them and is detrimental.
Discussing the relationship between Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dodik stated that for Serbia, the relevant entity is the Presidency of BiH, not one-third of that presidency represented by Denis Bećirović, whom he described as a pseudo-historian with a disdain for anything Serbian, spreading lies but lacking the potential to take action.
