“Tonight, the 6th Intim Jazz Fest opened in Banja Luka with a concert by one of the most significant European jazz saxophonists, Tony Lakatos, and his quintet.

Apart from Lakatos, the audience at Banski Dvor had the pleasure to enjoy performances by Ivan Radivojević (trumpet), Andreja Hristić (piano), Branko Marković (double bass), and Dušan Novakov (drums).

Lakatos highlighted that festivals like this one prove how jazz music can connect people worldwide, as announced by the Cultural Center Banski Dvor.

‘I have performed in various locations in Africa, in the Borneo rainforest; it’s a wonderful experience and a testament to how jazz brings people together,’ stated Lakatos, emphasizing the fantastic and brilliant atmosphere of the Banski Dvor Cultural Center, expressing his delight in performing there.

Marković felt like a guest-host of this festival, having participated five times in various formations. He emphasized Lakatos as one of the most significant contemporary artists.

‘The intense concert activity in Banski Dvor, encompassing jazz and classical music, is great. I follow everything happening in this cultural center; it energizes and drives the city,’ said Marković.

He also highlighted Vladimir Tubić from Banja Luka, who will perform tomorrow, the festival’s second day, as a genuine representative of the city playing at a professional level.

Mladen Matović, the Director of Banski Dvor, expressed hope that this beautiful tradition, until recently the only jazz festival in Republika Srpska, will spread positive vibes and elevate jazz music to a higher level, as it rightfully deserves.”
