The Minister for Scientific and Technological Development and Higher Education of Republika Srpska, Željko Budimir, stated that the establishment of technology transfer in the field of medicine is a significant strategic goal, and collaboration with the University of Medicine and Health Sciences in Shanghai will contribute to its achievement.

Minister Budimir emphasized that the Chinese delegation expressed readiness to open an innovation center in Banja Luka, which is intended to facilitate the transfer of high technologies into the healthcare system of Republika Srpska.

“I expect that we will soon have concrete projects resulting from this collaboration,” said Budimir, who, along with the Minister of Health and Social Welfare of Republika Srpska, Alen Šeranić, the Rector of the University of Banja Luka, Radoslav Gajanin, and the Dean of the Medical Faculty in Banja Luka, Ranko Škrbić, held discussions with the delegation from China in Banja Luka on Wednesday.

He reminded that the Medical Faculty of the University of Banja Luka already has a Center for Biomedical Research, which will be a valuable partner in realizing these projects.

Minister Šeranić expressed great satisfaction in hosting the delegation from Shanghai, recalling that a few days ago, he had the opportunity to discuss collaboration in various fields in that city as the head of the Republika Srpska delegation.

“Now we are opening a new form of collaboration, focusing on innovations and new technologies in the healthcare sector. This involves a systemic aspect of cooperation through higher education and innovation, which holds great significance for the healthcare system of Republika Srpska,” said Šeranić.

Gajanin mentioned that the University of Banja Luka already has traditionally good cooperation with universities in China, and he is confident that collaboration with the University of Medicine and Health Sciences in Shanghai will be very good, intensive, and dynamic.

“We have the opportunity for an innovation center dedicated to the transfer of science and technology in the field of health and biomedical sciences to be located in Republika Srpska, and our university will be a reliable partner in that,” said Gajanin.

Škrbić expressed anticipation for future collaboration in the transfer of technology in the fields of health and medicine.

“We are fully prepared for such collaboration, which will contribute to the development of healthcare, as well as scientific and technological advancements,” he said.

The Rector of the University of Medicine and Health Sciences in Shanghai, Vu Tao, expects fruitful collaboration between China and Republika Srpska in the transfer of biomedical technologies.

“There are potentials and possibilities for developing collaboration in the field of an innovation center for the transfer of biomedical technologies, and we hope to realize this collaboration and work together on the implementation of projects in this area,” said Tao.
