Bijeljina-based defense industry company “Orao” is celebrating 82 years of successful operation today.
To mark the occasion, a memorial service was held at the monument on the company grounds for 23 “Orao” workers who were killed as members of the Army of Republika Srpska in the Defensive-Patriotic War.
A formal reception will be held at 7 p.m. at the “Grand” hall in Bijeljina.
Founded in 1944 in Pančevo near Belgrade as a workshop for repairing aircraft engines, “Orao” was relocated to Rajlovac near Sarajevo in 1949, and over the following years went through every stage of technical development in the overhaul of piston and turbojet engines.
After the signing of the Dayton Agreement, “Orao” was moved to Bijeljina, since Rajlovac became part of the FBiH.
It is recorded that the company was moved in 2,000 trucks.
Since 1996, “Orao” has been headquartered in Bijeljina, the second-largest city in Republika Srpska.
