The historical thriller Hand of Justice (Ruka pravde), directed by Nemanja Ćeranić, will premiere in Banja Luka on November 25, telling the story of Blagoje Jovović, the man who attempted to assassinate Ante Pavelić, the leader of the Nazi-allied Independent State of Croatia (NDH), in Argentina.

The film was screened at this year’s FEST film festival in Belgrade, while its Banja Luka premiere is scheduled for November 25 at the Palas Cinema.

A historical thriller combining espionage and revenge

Hand of Justice combines historical drama with a fast-paced espionage storyline centered on Blagoje Jovović, a former member of the Yugoslav Army in the Homeland.

After the Second World War, Jovović settles in Argentina, where he runs a cork factory with his friend Jakov.

Just as the two secure an important business deal and Blagoje prepares to marry an Argentine woman named Glada, an unexpected encounter changes the course of his life.

“At a moment when they have concluded an important business deal and Blagoje is preparing for his wedding to Glada, he notices a man with a tattoo of an Ustaše symbol in a crowded city street. The sight reopens old wounds. Aware that the notorious Ustaše leader Ante Pavelić is living in Buenos Aires, Blagoje begins preparing an assassination attempt,” according to a statement issued by m.

Filmed in Argentina and Serbia

Most of the film was shot on location in Argentina and Serbia, with the production team aiming to authentically recreate the atmosphere of the period and the complexity of the historical events.

The cast includes Aleksandar Gavranić, Zlatan Vidović, Tamara Ristoska, Igor Borojević, Samuel Finci, Mladen Nelević, Lucas Ferraro, Miodrag Krčmarik, Slađana Zrnić, Jovan Savić and Ljubiša Savanović, among others.

Selected for Thessaloniki International Film Festival
