The play “The Bear,” performed by the A. A. Bryantsev Youth Theatre from St. Petersburg, will be staged on Wednesday, October 21, at 8 p.m. at the National Theatre of Republika Srpska in Banja Luka.
The guest performance by the Russian ensemble is being organized as part of the “Day for Guests” program, giving the Banja Luka audience an opportunity to see a production based on the famous work by Anton Chekhov.
Chekhov’s black-and-white vaudeville
The creators describe the production as a black-and-white vaudeville presenting Chekhov’s well-known comic story about the conflict between landowner Grigory Stepanovich Smirnov and young widow Yelena Ivanovna Popova.
A demand for the immediate repayment of her late husband’s debt escalates into a heated verbal confrontation, a challenge to a duel and, ultimately, an unexpected romance.
Free admission for visitors
The play runs for 50 minutes and is intended for audiences aged 12 and above.
Admission is free, with tickets available in advance at the box office of the National Theatre of Republika Srpska.
