Banja Luka Airport has the potential to significantly increase passenger numbers and develop its supporting infrastructure, according to a feasibility study that provides recommendations for the airport’s future development. Israeli experts working on the study presented possible solutions, with project implementation expected to be the next step.
The new development and modernization study for the airport in Mahovljani was provided as a gift by Israeli partners and was prepared by renowned architects Amir and Asaf Mann.
“We are in the middle of this feasibility study and will complete it by December. By then, we will also have concrete figures regarding the costs. What is important, and what I mentioned during the presentation, is the vision. When people arrive directly in a country, that place needs to make a special first impression – and that place is the airport,” Israeli architect Asaf Mann said.
Israeli businessman Moshe Levy said their goal was to bring new technologies to Republika Srpska in order to help strengthen it.
“Republika Srpska has a friend in Israel,” he added.
Republika Srpska Prime Minister Savo Minić said that what was presented represents something that further strengthens the ties between Republika Srpska and the State of Israel.
“At the same time, it gives us realistic room to strategically plan activities that should increase our economic capacity in every sense of the word,” Minić said.
