Prijedor Fight Night brings together boxers and kickboxers from Europe and the region

Prijedor Fight Night brought together professional boxers and kickboxers from across Europe and the region, with well-known Montenegrin MMA fighter Vaso Bakočević headlining the event and claiming victory in the main professional boxing bout.

Bakočević is one of the region’s best-known MMA fighters and has competed in 70 fights during his career.

In his third professional boxing match, held in Prijedor, he defeated Kenan Ćatić from Sanski Most, who competes for a Slovenian club. Bakočević said the result marked his third victory in professional boxing.

“I want to gain more experience and more victories, and then have a match with Filip Hrgović. I do not plan to retire as long as I can compete at this level,” Bakočević said.

More than 3,000 spectators packed the sports hall, where they had an opportunity to watch five K-1 kickboxing bouts and nine traditional boxing matches.

“We had great fights and spectacular knockouts. The Ukrainian fighters delivered excellent performances, while Stefan Torbica from my team had a fantastic fight. He is a young fighter, he shone tonight and has a bright future ahead of him,” said Željko Stegić, organizer of Prijedor Fight Night.

Aleksandar Mišeljić, head of the Prijedor City Department for Culture, International Cooperation, Sports and NGOs, expressed gratitude to everyone involved in organizing the event, as well as prominent guests including Tadija Kačar, Bakočević and his team.

“On behalf of the City of Prijedor, I thank them for coming here. What makes Prijedor particularly proud, and what proves that we are a city of sports, is an event like this – packed stands and demand for more tickets,” Mišeljić said.

Organizers said that, following the second edition of the boxing spectacle, professional boxing and kickboxing events in Prijedor are becoming a tradition.
