10th International Handball Tournament concludes in Banja Luka

The jubilee 10th BL-Banja Luka Cup 2026 International Handball Tournament has concluded in Banja Luka, bringing together 38 teams from five countries and around 700 participants from September 4 to 6.

Teams from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Slovenia, Sweden, and Italy took part in the tournament, organized by the BL Banja Luka Youth Handball Club.

Over three days, young handball players competed in four age categories, displaying talent, determination, and sportsmanship. Matches were played at the Borik, Centar, and Campus sports halls, with organizers saying the event once again demonstrated Banja Luka’s strong handball tradition and its ability to host major sporting events.

In the 2010 age category, ORK Banja Luka finished first, followed by Trimo Trebnje and Novi Beograd.

Novi Beograd won the 2012 category, ahead of ORK Banja Luka and Gorenje Velenje.

ORK Banja Luka took first place in the 2013 category, followed by Kozara Kozarska Dubica and Kotor Varoš.

In the 2014 category, Novi Beograd finished first, Kozara Kozarska Dubica second, and Grosuplje third.

The tournament was held in a lively atmosphere, with large crowds in the stands and numerous competitive and closely contested matches. Beyond the sporting competition, the Banja Luka Cup provided an opportunity for children and young people from different cities and countries to meet and build new friendships.

With 700 participants, 38 teams, five countries, four age categories, three days of competition, and three sports venues, the jubilee edition highlighted the growing scale and significance of the tournament.

The organizers thanked all participants, coaches, parents, referees, volunteers, partners, and friends of the tournament, as well as the Ministry of Family, Youth and Sports of Republika Srpska, the City of Banja Luka, and businesses that supported this year’s event.

Under the slogan “I Love Handball, I Play Handball!”, the jubilee BL-Banja Luka Cup once again emphasized its central message – that handball helps create not only future champions, but also new friendships.
