Živko Savić, a member of Cycling Club BSK Banja Luka, achieved a major success today by winning the Grand Prix Mohács international cycling race in Hungary over a distance of 106 kilometres. With this victory, he secured the club’s first international triumph in ten years.
BSK Banja Luka, one of the city’s oldest sports clubs with a tradition spanning more than 125 years, says the result confirms its return to former sporting success.
Through his dedication and consistent training, Savić has made a significant contribution to the club, and today’s victory on the international stage represents an achievement worthy of special recognition.
In addition to Savić’s victory at the Grand Prix Mohács, BSK Banja Luka was represented in Hungary by Đorđe Kupusović in the elite men’s category, Maja Subotić in the women’s elite category, and junior rider Filip Tubin.
The performances of these cyclists demonstrate the return of Banja Luka cycling to the international scene with a team competing across multiple categories and proudly representing both the club and the city at international competitions.
Club Sporting Director Vladimir Kuvalja said he was extremely pleased and proud of Savić, as well as the entire team representing the club internationally.
“This victory is of special significance for our club. Although in recent years we have lacked the level of support from the City of Banja Luka that a club with this tradition and these results deserves, we have never given up on our name, our city or our heritage. We will continue to proudly carry the name of Banja Luka and represent our city on both the domestic and international sporting stage. Živko’s victory, together with the performances of our entire team, is the best proof that this club has a future and that we are returning to where we belong—among the very best,” Kuvalja said.
The club expressed hope that there will be greater understanding and support for cycling and sport in general in the future, and that those responsible for sports policy in Banja Luka will recognize and value the tradition, commitment and achievements of sports clubs that have represented the city for decades.
