As part of the “Summer in Mrkonjić Grad” festival, actors from the City Theatre of Mrkonjić Grad performed A Suspicious Person at the Petar Kočić Cultural Center. The production is a two-act comedy based on the work of renowned Serbian playwright Branislav Nušić. It was directed by Marija Ubović, a young native of Mrkonjić Grad and a member of the theatre, marking the third production she has directed.
The performance marked the premiere of the play by the Mrkonjić Grad ensemble.
“The cast is made up of high school and elementary school students. This is the third play I have directed here in Mrkonjić Grad. A Suspicious Person is a satire written by Branislav Nušić in 1877,” said director Marija Ubović.
Stefana Tepić of the City Theatre of Mrkonjić Grad, who plays the role of Anđa, said she had grown attached to the character during rehearsals.
“I connected with the character throughout the rehearsals. You could say I have been involved in acting my whole life. It’s all on an amateur basis. I love it and enjoy every moment,” Tepić said.
