The president of Alliance of Independent Social Democrats, Milorad Dodik, called on citizens to gather in Donja Gradina on April 19, the Day of Remembrance for victims of the Ustaša genocide, and pay tribute to Serb victims.
He stated that the Jasenovac concentration camp represented a concentration of evil against the Serb people and stressed the importance of preserving memory through collective gatherings.
“I invite everyone to come in large numbers, because only by gathering at such places can we ensure that this is never forgotten. These were monstrous crimes,” Dodik said.
Recalling the масштаб of suffering in Jasenovac, including members of his extended family and people from his region, Dodik emphasized that remembrance is essential to prevent repetition.
“If we do not remember and defend that memory, it will happen again. Justice for the victims must be ensured,” he added.
Dodik also noted that the commemoration in Donja Gradina is expected to be attended by the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, as well as officials from Republika Srpska, representatives of the Serb people from the region, members of Jewish communities, guests from Israel, and other international representatives.
