Dodik: Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina cannot be superior to courts in Republika Srpska

SNSD leader Milorad Dodik stated that the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) and its leader Bakir Izetbegović are seeking to position the court in Sarajevo as superior to courts in Republika Srpska, which, he said, cannot happen because it is not предусмотрено by the constitutional structure.

Dodik recalled that the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina defines the judiciary as a competence of the entities, not of the state level.

“The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina cannot be superior to our courts—there is no hierarchy. That is what Bakir Izetbegović wants, but we will not allow it,” Dodik said in Banja Luka.

He added that political actors in Sarajevo attempted to shift decision-making on excise duties to the Council of Ministers in order to turn it into a government, although it is formally an auxiliary body of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Dodik emphasized that Republika Srpska acted responsibly on this issue, taking measures and reducing excise duties within its jurisdiction.
