The visit of Donald Trump Jr. to Banja Luka sends a strong message both to Republika Srpska and to Sarajevo, as he arrived directly at Banja Luka Airport, said Republika Srpska Minister of Justice Goran Selak.
Selak noted that Trump Jr. came directly to Banja Luka, without going through Sarajevo.
“That is also a message to Sarajevo. People, come to your senses—do not attack the institutions of Republika Srpska. Let us live together, prevent our people from leaving, encourage their return, develop the economy, and strengthen relations,” Selak said in Belgrade.
He emphasized that Republika Srpska should not be humiliated through what he described as political processes, noting that Srpska is gaining more friends every day, as is Serbia.
Selak added that Republika Srpska is closely connected to Serbia, but also seeks to expand partnerships and visibility in both the United States and the Russian Federation, as well as with all those who treat it responsibly.
“Republika Srpska is a reality. We are an integral part of Bosnia and Herzegovina, we respect its structure, but we do not accept what political Sarajevo is doing to us,” Selak said.
He stressed that Republika Srpska aims to progress, develop economic activity, and create a favorable environment for investment.
“Everyone who has good intentions toward Republika Srpska is welcome,” Selak stated.
Referring to Trump Jr.’s comment that democracy is often used as a tool to create problems, Selak added that certain external actors attempt to undermine key figures in both Republika Srpska and Serbia and create instability.
“Serbia and Republika Srpska will cooperate and coordinate on how to move forward,” Selak concluded.
