The city of Prnjavor, long known for its strong entrepreneurial tradition and excellent opportunities for the development of agriculture and the food industry, has been recording steady economic growth for years.
Prnjavor ranks among the leading cities in terms of exports, while a positive business environment continues to attract new investors, whose numbers are increasing year by year.
The stronger, more developed, and better-organized local communities are, the stronger and more developed Republika Srpska becomes.
Darko Tomaš, Mayor of Prnjavor, says he is encouraged by the entrepreneurial spirit of the city’s business community.
- Republic-level institutions have also created conditions that enable economic development, and we have taken advantage of that. Our advantage compared to other local communities is the construction of the highway, with an interchange located just one kilometer from the city center. Land near the interchange was granted to us by the Government, and we have made full use of it. We have established a business zone where more than 20 companies operate – Tomaš said in RTRS’s morning program.
Compared to many local communities, not only in Republika Srpska but also in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the wider region, Prnjavor can boast a business environment that even more developed, organized, and larger economies than that of Republika Srpska could envy.
- With the construction of a new road, which is planned, a new business zone will be opened, creating a new development opportunity for entrepreneurs, both domestic and foreign – Tomaš said.
Prnjavor ranks among the top three local communities in Republika Srpska in terms of export value.
- We have a significant number of people who have returned from abroad and started their own businesses. They are the best ambassadors of the city when it comes to attracting foreign investors – Tomaš added.
Employment in Prnjavor is higher than the Republika Srpska average. However, some issues still remain.
- The problem of inadequate electricity supply, even during minor weather disturbances. Citizens can no longer and will not tolerate this – Tomaš said, emphasizing that investments in the power distribution network are necessary.
He expressed hope that this issue will be resolved, as it also affects the city’s economy.
- We are currently dealing with weather conditions, as minor rivers have overflowed in parts of the city, but everything is under control – Tomaš concluded.
