Dodik: Izetbegović has no say in Republika Srpska, but would like to

The president of Alliance of Independent Social Democrats, Milorad Dodik, said he feels sorry for Bakir Izetbegović, the president of the Party of Democratic Action.

“I somehow feel sorry for Bakir. He has no say in Republika Srpska, yet he would like to. He admits he is naive, yet wants to dominate. He falls into imaginary traps, yet wants to shape processes,” Dodik wrote on the social network X, commenting on Izetbegović’s recent statements.

Izetbegović had spoken about Bosnia and Herzegovina’s “foreign policy neutrality,” criticized Dodik and SNSD, and commented on a declaration signed in Sarajevo—a joint statement by Bosniak representatives condemning hate speech, Islamophobia, and what they described as false narratives about Bosniaks and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Dodik added that Izetbegović writes political statements together with the reis (Islamic religious leader), while speaking about a secular state.

“He claims Bosnia and Herzegovina only for Bosniaks, yet speaks about equality. He talks about anti-fascism, while ignoring the letter of Sarajevo intellectuals to the Führer. According to his interpretation, it turns out he even condemned his father Alija—but even that is in vain. Both he and his politics are pitiful,” Dodik stated.
