Republika Srpska recognized as an example of resistance to external pressure

A strong message from the Conservative Political Action Conference in Budapest emphasized that state sovereignty must take precedence over global structures, with Republika Srpska highlighted as an example of resistance to external pressure and a commitment to self-determination.

Participants from more than 50 countries underlined the importance of national policies and opposition to globalization and liberal political models. The efforts of Republika Srpska’s leadership to preserve political positions guaranteed by the Dayton Constitution were particularly emphasized.

Ana Trišić Babić said the conference demonstrated that both Europe and the world have already undergone significant change.

“What I learned in Budapest, listening to all these perspectives, is that the world has truly changed, and so has Europe. In Republika Srpska, we made the right decision when we stood up at a certain moment and said: enough. Nothing can proceed without our participation or without us being asked,” she stated.

Biljana Gutić Bijelica highlighted that key pillars of a stable European society include border protection, national sovereignty, pride, energy stability, and support for families.

“These are the foundations of a healthy European society, which, it must be said, is rooted in Christian values. Republika Srpska not only fits into this framework but, in some respects, plays a leading role in this part of the region,” she said.

She also noted the chain of political support, mentioning backing from Donald Trump to Viktor Orbán, and from Orbán to Milorad Dodik, summarizing it with the phrase: “a friend of my friend is also my friend.”

Political analyst Stevica Deđanski assessed that the leadership of Republika Srpska has pursued a pro-Serb, traditional policy aligned with the interests of the Serb people, which has now gained broader recognition.

The support expressed at the conference—centered on the right of nations to decide their own future and resist external pressure—was described as particularly significant for Republika Srpska, coming at a crucial moment after years of political challenges and pressure.
