Conference in Banja Luka: Energy becomes a key geopolitical issue of the modern world

Energy has become one of the central geopolitical issues of the modern world, as global crises increasingly show how the stability of supply directly affects economies and the daily lives of citizens. This was the focus of the conference “Energy and Geopolitics of the Region: Pipelines and Oil Routes as Instruments of Geopolitics,” held in Banja Luka.

Experts warned that Europe is facing new energy challenges, emphasizing that countries in the region must secure multiple supply routes and stable energy sources.

Miloš Šolaja stressed that, under current conditions, no supplier should be excluded, but priority should be given to more affordable energy sources due to their impact on citizens’ living standards.

“We should not block projects like the Šepak–Novi Grad gas pipeline. It is necessary to enable faster and freer access to cheaper suppliers,” Šolaja said.

Dušan Proroković warned that conflicts can seriously disrupt the entire economic system of the continent.

“The Ukrainian crisis already showed us that, and now, since March, the situation involving Iran confirms it again,” Proroković noted.
