Members of SNSD in the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sanja Vulić and Milorad Kojić, addressed an open letter to embassies in Bosnia and Herzegovina, requesting a clear and unequivocal response to an incident that occurred on March 16 in the Parliamentary Assembly.
According to the letter, journalists from the Federation of BiH allegedly expressed hostility and intolerance toward Serb representatives, referring to them as “Chetniks,” which the MPs described as a serious violation of institutional dignity and democratic principles.
- “Such labeling does not represent a mere value judgment or historical reference, but a distorted qualification aimed at discrediting and exclusion,” the letter states.
Vulić and Kojić argue that such rhetoric implies that Serb representatives are not welcome or equal within state institutions, contributing to an atmosphere of uncertainty and tension.
They also noted that the incident does not appear isolated, but rather reflects a broader environment in which such discourse is tolerated.
- “Plenary sessions are increasingly taking on the character of high-risk events. As elected representatives, we are entering institutions with a sense of fear and insecurity,” the letter adds.
The MPs previously filed a criminal complaint with the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH against Emerin Ahmetašević, a journalist from Hayat TV, accusing him of inciting national, racial, and religious hatred.
According to the complaint, Ahmetašević used offensive language during a parliamentary debate on amendments to the excise law, and later made additional controversial remarks regarding an incident involving a motorcyclist from Serbia in Sarajevo.
