Premiere of Russian documentary “Exodus” tomorrow in Banja Luka

The premiere of the documentary film “Exodus” will be held tomorrow at 20:00 at the Banski Dvor Cultural Centre in Banja Luka. The film was created by journalist and Balkan bureau chief of the All-Russia State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company Darya Grigorova and produced by the television channel Russia-24.

The documentary is dedicated to the fate of the Serbs from Sarajevo after the end of the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the mass exodus of more than 150,000 people who were forced to leave their homes following the signing of the Dayton Peace Agreement.

The film portrays the final events of the war through personal testimonies of witnesses and participants, archival material, and interviews with politicians, legal experts, military officials, and eyewitnesses.

Among those featured in the film are the President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik, film director Emir Kusturica, and former Deputy Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia Nikola Šainović.

Special attention in the documentary is given to how the events of the 1990s in the Balkans are perceived today within the context of contemporary geopolitical developments. Participants in the film draw parallels between the breakup of Yugoslavia and current global events, discussing the role of Western powers, international institutions, and mechanisms of political pressure in major international conflicts.

The film also raises questions about how decisions made at international negotiating tables affected the lives of hundreds of thousands of people.

The premiere in Banja Luka is organized with the support of the Russian House in Belgrade. Expert support for the project was provided by senior advisor of the Russian House and historian Georgy Engelhardt.

The documentary will be screened in Russian and Serbian with Serbian subtitles. Admission is free.
