Poet Zdravko Miovčić has received the “Đuro Damjanović” literary award for his poetry collection Metaphysical Cellar. The jury praised the strong sensuality, melodic quality, and rich symbolism of his verses, noting the clear influence of Đuro Damjanović’s work.
“The book was published last year by the Center for Serbian Studies in Banja Luka. It contains several cycles — the first about rakija, the second from the wine cellar, the third from the lyrical cellar, and the fourth from the monastic cellar. It is evident that the book is written from a somewhat bohemian perspective,” Miovčić said.
Writer and jury member Berislav Blagojević noted that the collection genuinely corresponds with the spirit and legacy of Đuro Damjanović.
“It is not a book written intentionally for this award — it simply aligned perfectly, and that nuance was what led us to award it to Miovčić,” he added.
