Cvijanović: Komšić spoke in the UN Security Council solely on his own behalf

BiH Presidency member Željko Komšić spoke before the UN Security Council solely on his own behalf — not on behalf of Bosnia and Herzegovina or the Presidency as a collective body, said the Serb member of the Presidency, Željka Cvijanović.

“With false accusations against Republika Srpska and worn-out narratives about secessionism, Komšić justifies foreign interventionism while concealing Sarajevo’s unitarism. Sarajevo is desperately defending the instruments of foreign interventionism because it sees them as tools for advancing its political agenda,” Cvijanović wrote on X.

She added that this was yet another confirmation that there is no shared vision in Bosnia and Herzegovina — not even regarding its own functioning.

According to Cvijanović, Republika Srpska believes that the reckless actions of various high representatives, contrary to the Dayton Peace Agreement, have turned BiH into a “laboratory.”

“The state-building experiments conducted in that laboratory destroyed internal trust and dialogue and undermined the purpose of democratically elected institutions,” she stated.

Cvijanović stressed that after 30 years of experimentation, the harmful consequences of foreign interventionism — which reached its peak through the actions of Christian Schmidt — must be eliminated.

“It is sad to hear political representatives from Sarajevo claim that BiH can survive only thanks to the illegal interventions of high representatives or the actions of foreign judges in the BiH Constitutional Court, who have dismantled rather than protected the Constitution,” she noted.

Cvijanović emphasized that instead of maintaining the Office of the High Representative (OHR) as a “laboratory apparatus,” Bosnia and Herzegovina should strengthen the democratic capacity of its institutions at all levels, reform the judiciary, and erase the damage caused by Schmidt’s actions.

“It is discouraging and disappointing that the EU continues to support the mission of the high representative, as this shows a lack of vision and a failure to define a clear approach to BiH — which prevents it from positioning itself appropriately,” Cvijanović wrote.

On the other hand, she welcomed the statement of the U.S. representative, who once again reiterated the position of President Donald Trump and other officials of the current administration that the era of state-building is over.

“Republika Srpska remains committed to peace and stability, as well as to cooperation with all parties in BiH and the region,” Cvijanović concluded.
