The 15th representative appearance of Republika Srpska was officially opened at the International Belgrade Book Fair. The opening ceremony was led by the Ministers of Culture of Srpska and Serbia, Borivoje Golubović and Nikola Selaković. Republika Srpska and Serbia will continue, in the years ahead, to jointly build and strengthen the spiritual and cultural unity of the Serb people.
Republika Srpska proudly participates in the Fair, reaffirming its place on the cultural map of the Serb world. The cultural cooperation between Serbia and Srpska has never been more dynamic.
“In a time of global change, when many cultures are losing their authentic features, our duty is to preserve what defines us – the Serb language and Cyrillic script, national tradition, faith, and cultural values that form the essence of our identity,” said Golubović.
“To remain who we are, we must stay true to our cultural identity, our language, script, culture, and art,” Selaković emphasized.
The Representative Office of Republika Srpska in Serbia highlighted that their stand at the Fair serves as a showcase of Srpska before the world.
“Srpska and Serbia represent a single cultural, ethnic, linguistic, and spiritual space, and only a united Serb people can preserve its identity,” stated Mlađen Cicović, Head of the Representative Office of Republika Srpska in Serbia.
The program continued with book promotions, including the anthology “Serb Identity” published by SPKD Prosvjeta Belgrade, while the Official Gazette of Republika Srpska presented “The Era of Islamism and Terror – Bosnia, a Springboard of Global Terrorism” by Dževad Galijašević.
“The way to survive is by preserving our church, literature, and culture so that we know who we are, what we are, and where we are. The times behind us are, in fact, a struggle for identity — the history of our endurance,” said Professor Milimir Mučibabić, President of SPKD Prosvjeta Belgrade.
“When you look at the religious practice and doctrine of Wahhabism, you see part of a global phenomenon. Terrorists in BiH were not created according to some local model — it’s a global pattern seen in Syria, Libya, and Iraq,” added political analyst and security expert Dževad Galijašević.
This year’s Belgrade Book Fair features 46 publishers from Republika Srpska, showcasing 137 titles by 129 authors.
