The social development and cultural initiative “Krasiva” from Banja Luka, in cooperation with the production team of the theater musical Women (Don’t) Go to Heaven, has announced the premiere for 11 November 2025 at the Obilićevo Theater Hall in Banja Luka.
The audience can expect a unique stage format that blends cabaret and musical theater. Through music, humor, and emotion, the show will portray the lives and struggles of four women — Dušica, Lila, Buba, and Sofia. Their stories, connected by a mysterious coral necklace, explore universal themes of womanhood, freedom, strength, and vulnerability. Through parody, laughter, and catharsis, the audience will recognize everyday challenges of modern women — balancing between temptation, guilt, and the pursuit of happiness.
Author on a layered story: “It reflects our lives”
Creative lead and author Danka Ignjatović says the goal was to create a theater experience that appeals to a broad audience while delivering a meaningful message.
“The second layer of this project is tied to the four female characters and their life journeys. It’s a layered narrative that will resonate with both men and women — complex, not one-sided, and undoubtedly part of our own lives,” Ignjatović says.
Composer: “An organic product of our local stage”
Composer and songwriter Mladen Matović highlights that one of the key reasons he joined the project is that it is fully created within the domestic artistic scene.
“This is our first musical that is entirely a homegrown product. The original concept, script, direction, dramatization, and a cast that is musically talented — all of this demonstrates the potential of our cultural scene. It’s truly an organic project. Writing lyrics, creating songs, and composing music was a challenge, but also incredibly inspiring,” Matović explains.
Producer: “A genre that will refresh the scene”
Project producer Natalija Trivić shares her confidence in the musical’s success.
“I believe this genre will bring fresh energy to the stage in Republika Srpska, especially because it is rarely produced due to its complexity. After reading the text by Mario Ćulum and Milan Gajić, I immediately recognized its quality — a production challenge and a theater piece that audiences long for. With a strong creative and production team fully dedicated to the project, and clear public interest, I am certain Women (Don’t) Go to Heaven will be a success,” Trivić says.
The creative team also includes writers/dramaturgs Mario Ćulum and Milan Gajić, director Dajana Josipović, actresses Danka Ignjatović, Isidora Davidović, Tara Desnica and Selena Petrović, choreographer Ana Mazalica, costume and set designer Vladimirka Velaga, and music producer Boris Glišić.
