Next year dedicated to Football Club Borac’s centenary

All activities of Football Club Borac throughout next year will carry the symbolic mark of the club’s 100th anniversary, said Dejan Čato, the club’s general director, in an interview with RTRS.

Čato emphasized that Borac’s most recent success — last season’s championship — stands out as one of the greatest in its history.

“The Borac team achieved a success no other club has ever reached. Of course, we also proudly remember the Marshal Tito Cup and the Mitropa Cup, which are just some of Borac’s many achievements,” Čato said.

He announced a full year of anniversary-themed events:

“We plan to celebrate the centenary all year long. Last year we began work on a monograph, and we’ve agreed with Pošte Srpske to issue a commemorative postage stamp marking 100 years of the club.”

RTRS will produce a documentary film dedicated to the centenary, which will serve as a permanent record of Borac’s legacy.

“This isn’t just a story by RTRS — it’s a lasting document in video form,” said Zoran Prnjatović, the project’s representative. “We proposed the idea to the club, and they gladly accepted it. It’s both an honor and a great responsibility to take part in creating this film.”

Danilo Zec, one of the authors of the club’s monograph, shared similar sentiments:

“Few institutions in Republika Srpska can proudly say they’ve existed for 100 years. The greatest success of Borac is precisely its endurance — a century of existence and survival,” Zec said.

Founded on July 4, 1926, Football Club Borac Banja Luka has for a full century represented not only the city of Banja Luka, but also the wider region, carrying its sporting spirit and name with pride through numerous national and international successes.
