Dodik after meeting with Putin: Republika Srpska preparing UN Security Council report to be presented by Russia

Republika Srpska is preparing a report for the UN Security Council, and Russia will present it, President Milorad Dodik said after his meeting in Sochi with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

He described the talks as successful.
“I met with the Russian foreign minister two to three weeks ago. As a guarantor of the Dayton Agreement, Russia has the right to be involved,” Dodik told RTRS.

He emphasized that Russia currently presides over the UN Security Council.
“BiH is on the agenda. We discussed what steps we should take. Russia supports agreements reached by local parties in BiH. Interference in the internal affairs of any country is unacceptable, including what has been done so far by an illegitimate foreigner,” Dodik said, referring to Christian Schmidt.

He stressed that the damage can only be repaired if all decrees imposed during Schmidt’s illegal mandate are annulled.

Dodik also noted that Putin spoke about Russia’s economic development and the growth of BRICS. “It was important to hear that, so we can see how to position ourselves on issues that also matter to us,” he added.

He said the assessment is that international interventionism has worsened relations between Bosniaks and Serbs.
“The view is that these relations cannot be easily repaired. Anyone trying to impose decisions should leave. Putin agrees with this. I also agree that dialogue within BiH is necessary,” Dodik said.

Another topic with Putin was the Court of BiH rulings.
“I explained my situation. He asked me what happened in court. I told him I was sentenced to one year, that I paid it, and that they banned my political activity—but they cannot ban me from serving as president. We decided that the will of the people, supporting the political option I lead, is untouchable,” Dodik stated.

He said the conversation was constructive.
“We also discussed the importance of not ‘losing’ the Balkans or leaving it to the Germans, who are not favorable to us. Regardless of our desire to improve relations, their approach remains the same,” Dodik explained.

Before their meeting, Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed the plenary session of the 22nd Valdai International Discussion Club, attended by President Dodik.

“I am leaving with positive impressions—support for Dayton, for dialogue, and the message that foreigners bring nothing good. It was another successful meeting. The strongest impression from the forum is everything, especially Putin’s speech, which was the best elaboration of a multipolar world. Everyone should study it. He explained, in a natural way, the paranoia spreading across Europe that the Russians are coming. The Russians are not coming anywhere—let them sleep peacefully. The problems lie in the West. His answers to questions were direct. It was a privilege to be here,” Dodik concluded.
