Branimir Kojić, president of the municipal Organization of Families of Captured and Fallen Soldiers and Missing Civilians of Srebrenica, said that Christian Schmidt’s visit to Potočari is an insult to Republika Srpska and to the families of Serb victims, who demand respect for the conclusions of the National Assembly regarding the unappointed foreigner and the urgent dismissal of the deputy mayor of Srebrenica, Hamdija Fejzić.
He noted that it was no coincidence that “provocateur Schmidt” came to the Memorial Center and held a meeting there with director Emir Suljagić, Republika Srpska Vice President Ćamil Duraković, and Fejzić.
“He came exactly on the day when the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, returned from brotherly Russia, because it was clear he had to come and reassure those who help undermine Republika Srpska and those who minimize our victims,” Kojić emphasized.
He said that everyone was shaken by the messages sent by Dodik and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who made it clear that Schmidt is not legitimate, and that everything happening now is nothing but an attack on Republika Srpska, its property, and the Serb people as a whole.
“For us, the families of Serb victims, Schmidt is irrelevant because we know he does not respect our victims. But that does not affect us, because who is he to bow before the victims of our loved ones? We know his value system, which is completely different from ours,” Kojić pointed out.
He stressed that what especially outraged the families of murdered Serbs was Schmidt’s meeting with Fejzić, who is supposed to represent all citizens, not only Muslims. For this reason, he called for an urgent response from Serb councilors and Mayor Miloš Vučić.
“It is telling that Duraković did not receive Schmidt in his office but in Srebrenica itself, which further fuels suspicion that this is about new agreements for new attacks on Republika Srpska—because all attacks on our only homeland always begin from Srebrenica,” Kojić concluded.
