The visit of Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik to Moscow sends the right signals to the Serb people, said political scientist Aleksandar Pavić during an appearance on RTRS’s Morning Program.
“Russia is one of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council and one of the two greatest powers in the world, and this visit comes at exactly the right time,” Pavić emphasized.
According to him, Russia’s position regarding the verdict against the president of Republika Srpska is very important.
“Christian Schmidt did not go through the Security Council approval procedure as his predecessors did. Yet the Court of BiH delivered a ruling based on the decisions of this illegitimate high representative. Russia does not recognize that decision. When they say they will recognize the referendum, that certainly carries weight,” Pavić stressed.
Speaking about the upcoming UN Security Council session on BiH scheduled for October 31, Pavić noted that many are wondering in what tone it will proceed.
“There will be very uncomfortable questions, especially for those countries that support Schmidt and why they support him. This issue will put France and the United Kingdom in an even more awkward position, because they have no real answer for why Schmidt is doing all of this. I believe that after the session we will be satisfied with Russia’s stance,” Pavić added.
He pointed out that the current situation in BiH is essentially an attempt at a “color revolution.”
“This is a hybrid type of ‘color revolution.’ Something similar was attempted in Venezuela, and even if they continue down this path, Russia will not sit idly by. It will not remain only at the level of diplomacy if there is an attack on Republika Srpska. Lavrov linked this with the Maidan in Ukraine in 2014 and the situation in Kosovo and Metohija. One could say that Republika Srpska has chosen the only possible course, while Sarajevo has chosen a state of chaos, which clearly suits them,” Pavić assessed.
