Tourism growth in Republika Srpska: More visitors and overnight stays in the first seven months

Republika Srpska welcomed 286,816 tourists in the first seven months of this year, who achieved 694,155 overnight stays — representing a 4.6 percent increase in arrivals and a three percent increase in overnight stays compared to the same period last year, the Tourism Organization of Republika Srpska told Srna.

From January to July, the number of overnight stays in mountain destinations rose by 6.9 percent, while spa resorts recorded a 3.5 percent increase.

“Other tourist destinations — those with attractive features such as climate, cultural and historical sites, rivers, and lakes — also recorded growth of about two percent,” said Sanela Šimun, the Tourism Organization’s public relations officer.

Visitors typically stayed between two and four days.

“As in previous years, aside from domestic tourists, the largest number of visits came from neighboring countries — Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, and Montenegro — while from other countries, Turkey, Germany, Austria, China, and Italy stood out,” Šimun added.

She noted that domestic tourists accounted for the majority of overnight stays in spa resorts, while foreign tourists favored destinations with natural and cultural attractions.
