Vranješ: We fight tyranny with democracy; referendum will determine the future of Srpska

The upcoming referendum in Republika Srpska will determine the future of the entity, said Aleksandar Vranješ, BiH ambassador to Serbia, in our Morning Program.

“The question is who holds power – the people or someone like Christian Schmidt – and whether the people in Srpska will remain the bearers of sovereignty or whether that position will be abolished,” Vranješ stated.

He explained that if that position were to be abolished, voting would no longer mean anything.

“Then a tyrant like Schmidt would decide. Tyranny is fought with democracy. And that is why it is good that we are asking the citizens whether they agree with this. If the citizens say ‘no’ to Schmidt, to colonial rule and tyranny, that will be the orientation for the Serb political elite on which direction to take,” Vranješ said.

He emphasized that he expects a high turnout and a strong “no.”

“Schmidt, together with his sponsors in Berlin, Brussels, and London, has created an entire mechanism of abuses within BiH’s judiciary. The system is set up so that Schmidt sends orders to the Prosecutor’s Office, which, together with the court, strikes against Srpska,” Vranješ noted.

Schmidt and his loyalists in BiH’s judiciary are expecting precisely this scenario, and it should come as no surprise if the Prosecutor’s Office begins raising numerous indictments for attacks on BiH’s constitutional order, Vranješ pointed out, adding that hundreds of such indictments could be expected, since under Schmidt’s decrees everything happening in Srpska could be interpreted as an attack on BiH’s constitutional order.

According to him, for the purpose of self-defense, Republika Srpska will have a range of possible responses to new assaults from Schmidt’s tyranny.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if one of the defensive mechanisms turns out to be the introduction of a state of emergency in order to protect the constitutional order, institutions, and citizens of Republika Srpska. That would then lead to further escalation, which appears to be Schmidt’s goal,” Vranješ said.

He stressed that Republika Srpska is ready to go all the way in defending its institutions, constitutional position, sovereignty, and the rights of the Serb constituent people, even if, as he put it, BiH falls apart into pieces.

“My only question is how they think they will implement it, that is, impose it,” Vranješ concluded.
