“March of Peace” again marked by wartime flags

Wartime flags and insignia—this is what this year’s “March of Peace” looks like. Although the march is supposed to honor the Bosniak victims, judging by the published photographs, it appears to be a tribute to the so-called Army of BiH—the same force that, under the command of Naser Orić, committed brutal and monstrous crimes against Serbs during the war.

This is yet more proof that the march is anything but what it claims to be. The families of Serb victims do not deserve to have wartime flags waved in their faces.

Displaying wartime insignia is not only a provocation—it is a renewed call to hatred.

For years, the Serb people have been subjected to intolerance and provocation. The double standards are well known. The Association of Detainees of Republika Srpska is asking whether the participants will visit the villages of Srebrenica and Bratunac, where Serbs were brutally murdered on their doorsteps, and whether they will walk the paths from which their victims still watch them.

The Serb side has shown how to honor its victims without any form of provocation, as demonstrated during the commemorations in Central Podrinje. What is being presented through this march is anything but a culture of remembrance.

It is clear that, for years, these events have been used to provoke national and ethnic intolerance, as well as to rewrite history. Serbs have never been a genocidal people. The goal is clearly the destruction of the Serb people—but that plan will not succeed, Republika Srpska firmly states.
