Staša Košarac, Deputy Chair of the Council of Ministers, emphasized that the institutions of Republika Srpska are conducting a highly responsible policy and are prepared to respond adequately to all challenges, including the migrant crisis.
Košarac stressed the crucial importance of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska adopting the declaration proposed by the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, which categorically rejects any plan to establish migrant accommodation centers on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially in Republika Srpska.
He pointed out that the migrant crisis is a serious global issue and poses a major threat, particularly in security-vulnerable countries such as Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“We do not want and will not become a hub for illegal migrants that Europe doesn’t know how to handle! Illegal migrants—some of whom have questionable backgrounds and are prone to criminal activities—represent an enormous risk, a threat, and a direct danger not only to Republika Srpska and BiH but to the entire region,” Košarac emphasized.
He stated that it is evident the institutions at the BiH level do not have an adequate response to the migrant crisis and that Sarajevo frequently manipulates this issue.
“This has created tremendous mistrust among the citizens and institutions of Republika Srpska, but also in the Federation of BiH, in the effectiveness of these institutions and their ability to address this problem,” Košarac noted.
He stressed the importance of Republika Srpska once again clearly expressing its position, acting preventively through decisions of the National Assembly, and determining how to approach this issue across the entire country.
Košarac added that there is no need for the opposition in Republika Srpska to politicize this issue in any way, and stated that it would be responsible to unanimously support the proposed declaration, as the priority must be the protection of all citizens of Republika Srpska, as well as the preservation of their property and safety in every part of the Republic.
“The positions of Republika Srpska’s institutions are binding for us, the representatives of Srpska at the state level. As always, we will act in accordance with the decisions of the National Assembly and implement them at the level of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” Košarac wrote on Instagram.
