Political analyst Dževad Galijašević stated that the ongoing visit of former governor of the U.S. state of Illinois and associate of U.S. President Donald Trump, Rod Blagojevich, is of exceptional importance for Republika Srpska.
Galijašević told Srna that this visit matters particularly because Blagojevich himself once faced politically motivated trials—just like Trump and the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik.
“Trump, in a symbolic sense, was the victim of a politically orchestrated process, the same kind now being used to persecute President Dodik. He is a victim of that America which unjustly sanctioned more than 50 individuals from Republika Srpska,” said Galijašević.
He emphasized that Trump defeated such a political agenda and is now trying to erase its legacy.
“Blagojevich is an important associate of Trump, as seen in Trump’s decision to grant him clemency from prosecution. It is a good thing that he is here. In fact, this is part of Dodik’s meticulous political strategy—building, piece by piece, a tower of international support that will ultimately demonstrate real political strength and a clear interest in ending the ongoing agony in Bosnia and Herzegovina,” Galijašević concluded.
