Red Star basketball team defeated Igokea in Laktaši with a score of 95:90 in the second game of the ABA League quarterfinals.
Igokea had a much better start, building a near double-digit lead in the first ten minutes, which they maintained through halftime, going into the break with a nine-point advantage.
In the third quarter, the visitors from Belgrade cut the lead to just five points, and in the fourth period, they even took a brief lead.
It seemed Igokea might seal the win, as they held a six-point advantage with just three minutes remaining. However, Nemanja Nedović and Rokas Giedraitis took over and turned the game around.
Giedraitis hit a crucial three-pointer with ten seconds remaining, breaking a 90:90 tie and ultimately deciding the winner.
In the absence of injured players Luka Mitrović, Dejan Davidovac, Joel Bolomboy, and Cody Miller-McIntyre, Red Star’s top performer was Nemanja Nedović with 26 points and six assists. Filip Petrušev added 21 points and ten rebounds, while Rokas Giedraitis contributed 13 points.
For Igokea, Bryce Jones led the team with 17 points (0/6 from three-point range), Strahinja Gavrilović scored 15, Dragan Milosavljević and Marko Jeremić each had 13, and Terrell Carter added 10 points.
Red Star will face the winner of the Budućnost vs. Mega series (Budućnost leads 1:0) in the semifinals.
The semifinal series begins on May 20 or 21 and will be played in a best-of-three format.
