Željka Cvijanović, Serb member and Chairwoman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, sent a telegram of condolence following the death of Pope Francis, stating that with his passing, the Roman Catholic Church has lost a great and wise spiritual leader who was genuinely devoted to justice, peace, and coexistence.
Cvijanović noted that she believes the Pope’s approach to the challenges of the modern world, as well as his messages of understanding and love among nations, will continue to serve as a source of motivation and guidance for many.
— Please accept my sincere condolences and deep respect — Cvijanović wrote in her telegram of condolence addressed to the Holy See in Rome, Archbishop of Vrhbosna Tomo Vukšić, and the Catholic community around the world.
Pope Francis passed away this morning in the Vatican after a long battle with respiratory and kidney-related illnesses.
