The President of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, Nenad Stevandić, stated that NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, who is visiting BiH today, has understood that there are two sides in BiH—one that incites conflict and another that defends itself.
Stevandić warned that NATO is being used in a way that positions it against the Serb side.
- We cannot afford to be cowards; we must endure. I believe Rutte has realized that there are two sides here, not just one—that there is both an inciting and a defensive force, and that it would be a great risk to support the inciting side – Stevandić said in an interview for Pink television.
He added that NATO might work on de-escalation through EUFOR forces, which are primarily composed of NATO member states.
De-escalation is necessary because if it does not happen now, the Bosniaks will cross the Rubicon – Stevandić warned.
He emphasized that Republika Srpska is not alone or isolated in its actions, as it has the understanding of Serbia, Hungary, and Croatia.
He also assessed that this is one of the most challenging periods for Republika Srpska since the war, and likely for Serbia as well.
- These are interconnected vessels. There is an unconstitutional and illegitimate joint effort against the Serb people, attempting to forcibly change the reality on the ground and impose a shift in the will of the people – Stevandić stated.
He added that forces in Republika Srpska that had lost and become delegitimized have found ways, through international and Bosniak factors, to offer an alternative—one that may grant them some minor benefits but ultimately aims to destroy Republika Srpska.
- We cannot destroy a country for which so many people gave their lives, which is guaranteed by the Dayton Agreement, has international recognition, and a Constitution. It is precisely the Constitution that protects us, and we must defend it at all costs – Stevandić emphasized.
