Dodik: new constitution of Srpska will be submitted for public debate

The president of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, stated in the RTR Special program that today a new constitution of Srpska will be submitted for public debate, through which authentic constitutional solutions for Srpska will be clearly defined.

  • “This constitution will not conflict with the BiH Constitution because Republika Srpska is committed to the original Dayton Peace Agreement. The public debate should last 15–20 days,” Dodik said.

Dodik, who is also the leader of SNSD, emphasized that SDA does not want any talk about the original Dayton Peace Agreement.

  • “In Sarajevo, there are traitors of the Serb people (the opposition), and the House of Representatives and the House of Peoples are not a parliament and do not have the authority they wish to portray. They have Darko Babalj (SDS), so let them adopt whatever they want. We will see whether we will even go there,” Dodik said.

According to him, this is motivated by the fact that the National Council was removed from the constitution.

  • “The BiH Constitution stipulates that the Federation has that, and they imposed it on us as well. When we had the chance to change that formulation, SDS did not want to. One of the qualifications, both in the original and in today’s constitution, is that the capital of Republika Srpska is Sarajevo. That is not true. The capital of Republika Srpska is Banja Luka. Let’s see if the representatives from Banja Luka will vote on that,” Dodik noted.

He also commented on the statements made by some opposition representatives, primarily SDS officials, describing them as harmful to the interests of Republika Srpska.

  • “Darko Babalj is making up stories. Who created Ilidza? It was created by the Republic. They merely brought a thousand Muslims to buy apartments. Now they are talking about extending the tram line from Ilidza. They wanted to expand the airport in Sarajevo on our land,” Dodik said.

He added that despite the opposition’s behavior, he is proud of the path Republika Srpska has taken and that no one will stop it.

  • “I am proud of all the people who have come to Banja Luka and given me energy. I am proud of my colleagues and the leaders of the ruling coalition parties,” Dodik stated.
