Republika Srpska is prepared to make radical decisions if the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina delivers any verdict against President Milorad Dodik, concluded officials of Republika Srpska during last night’s meeting in Banja Luka.
Participants of the meeting expressed their support for today’s announced session of the Collegium of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska and the government’s initiative for the Assembly to remain in continuous session, given the current socio-political situation and constant attacks on Srpska’s institutions and public officials.
The politically motivated trial against President Milorad Dodik in the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina is nearing its conclusion. From the start, this case has had no connection with law or justice, as the defense team has continuously pointed out. Given this, few expect a fair ruling. In response to any verdict, the National Assembly, the Government, and all institutions of Srpska will take radical measures. This was agreed upon during the meeting of Srpska’s highest officials.
- “If anyone thinks I am agitated, I am not. But you have agitated Republika Srpska and its institutions. Do you think you will humiliate Republika Srpska in this way? You will not. But we will not be the first to act. Our actions will be a reaction to what you intend to do,” said President Milorad Dodik.
Representatives of Srpska at the state level have also prepared a response to any verdict against Dodik—withdrawal from institutions and a work stoppage. These moves, they stress, are not an act of defiance, but a necessity to stop the legal violence and the abuse of the constitutional order, targeting both Srpska and its president.
Deputy Chair of the Council of Ministers, Staša Košarac, stated that these actions are not optional but a necessary measure. Minister of Finance and Treasury, Srđan Amidžić, warned that the trial is not just against Dodik but against every citizen of Srpska, paving the way for Bosnia and Herzegovina’s unitarization.
- “If there is a court like this, initiating a political process based on non-existent documents and laws, where the judges are Bosniaks, and if that court convicts the president of Srpska, I have to ask—what security do I have in BiH? Not just me, but anyone living in Republika Srpska,” said Amidžić.
Srpska has once again called for an end to the legal process and a halt to the attacks on the legal order of Republika Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Legal expert Ognjen Tadić believes that the goal of political Sarajevo is to undermine the equality of nations and entities in BiH.
- “Tomorrow, history will be written. Every closing argument, whether from Pucar, Bubić, or President Dodik, and even the statement of the prosecutor, will be part of history in this region,” Tadić said.
Closing arguments in the case against President Dodik and acting director of “Službeni glasnik” Miloš Lukić will be presented tomorrow, February 19. After that, the Court has three days to issue a first-instance verdict. Whatever the outcome, the political landscape in BiH will never be the same.
