For the first time this year, Republika Srpska will officially mark Sretenje – Statehood Day alongside Serbia, as established by the Declaration on the Protection of National and Political Rights and the Joint Future of the Serb People, adopted at the All-Serb Assembly in Belgrade, said Miloš Vujić, the Consul General of Serbia in Banja Luka, during a morning RTRS program interview.
- “Sretenje is observed as the Day of Constitutionality. This is the first year that Republika Srpska officially marks Sretenje, which holds great significance. Serbia is the homeland for all Serbs,” Vujić stated.
He emphasized that the leadership of Serbia, led by President Aleksandar Vučić, takes care of all Serbs.
- “We are sending a message of unity and togetherness, even though we do not all live in the same territory,” Vujić added.
He also noted that one of the main functions of the Serbian Consulate in Banja Luka is issuing Serbian citizenship, and in 2024 alone, nearly 5,000 applications have been processed.
