Dodik: Legitimate high representatives did not directly impose decisions

The President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, who testified today in the case against him before the Court of BiH, stated that high representatives who were legally appointed never directly made decisions in the way that Christian Schmidt, whom he considers illegitimate, has done.

Dodik emphasized that he has always consulted his advisors in his work and that he has been in politics for more than 20 years.

“I am aware of the practice that high representatives did not make decisions overnight but rather exerted pressure on parliaments to implement them,” Dodik said.

He stressed that his duty is to respect the Constitution of Republika Srpska and BiH and noted that Srpska’s Constitution is harmonized with the Constitution of BiH.

Dodik reiterated that legitimately appointed high representatives never directly imposed decisions and that he did not expect Schmidt to do so either.

He explained that he signed the decree the day before he was informed that the decision had been published in the Official Gazette of BiH.

When asked by his defense attorney, Goran Bubić, Dodik stated that he stands by the testimony he gave on July 19, 2023.

The trial against Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik and the acting director of Službeni glasnik Srpske, Miloš Lukić, for “non-compliance with Christian Schmidt’s decision” continued today before the Court of BiH.
