There are no arguments to support a guilty verdict in the case against the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, and the acting director of Službeni glasnik, Miloš Lukić, said Dodik’s defense attorney, Goran Bubić.
“A not-guilty verdict can be reached on multiple grounds,” Bubić stated.
He emphasized that the President of Srpska testified that in all matters, including the signing of the two decrees, he followed the advice of his official legal advisors.
“He also consulted a broader group of respected legal experts, and after those consultations, he determined that failing to sign the decrees would be a violation of the Constitution of Republika Srpska, which is harmonized with the Constitution of BiH. The President was heard as a witness in his own case, where he stated that he could not believe Christian Schmidt had acted the way he did, considering the previous practice in which legitimate High Representatives presented certain solutions to the Parliamentary Assembly, and only if the assembly failed to adopt them, would the High Representative intervene,” Bubić explained.
The evidentiary procedure in the case against Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik and Službeni glasnik acting director Miloš Lukić, accused of “non-compliance with the decision” of Christian Schmidt, was concluded today at the Court of BiH. The closing arguments will be presented on February 19.
The presiding judge, Sena Uzunović, announced that the closing arguments will be delivered on February 19 at 11:00 AM.
According to Uzunović, the BiH Prosecutor’s Office will require one hour for its closing statement, which will also be submitted in written form. Dodik’s lawyer, Goran Bubić, has planned two hours for his closing argument, and Dodik himself will also take two hours for his address.
Lukić’s defense attorney, Miljkan Pucar, will have an hour and a half to present his final argument.
The closing arguments will also be submitted to the Court in written form.
