Dodik: The Saint Sava Ball in Vienna is one of the most prestigious gatherings of our people in Austria

The Saint Sava Ball in Vienna is an event I attend with great pleasure. It represents one of the most prestigious gatherings of our people in Austria, wrote the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, on his X account.

“There, I meet dear people, our students, and successful members of our diaspora community, who solemnly celebrate and preserve our culture and tradition in the most beautiful way,” Dodik stated.

The 26th traditional Saint Sava Ball was held this evening at the Hofburg Palace in Vienna, with Milorad Dodik in attendance.

This year’s Saint Sava Ball marks several significant anniversaries:

  • 850 years since the birth of Rastko Nemanjić – Saint Sava, the first Serb archbishop,
  • 200 years since the birth of Johann Strauss II, composer of the “Serbian Quadrille,” an essential piece in every ball repertoire,
  • 170 years since the birth of Mihajlo Pupin, the renowned Serbian scientist.

A crucial aspect of this major event is its humanitarian mission. This time, funds will be raised for the purchase and adaptation of a new home for Ljiljana Dukić, a single mother from Obrenovac, and her three daughters.

The Saint Sava Ball is organized by the Serb Center in Vienna.
