Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó stated that the former US administration exerted pressure on Bosnia and Herzegovina in an anti-democratic and disgraceful manner, questioning the will of the people of Republika Srpska. He expressed hope that this has now come to an end.
- “This aggressive, ideologically driven interference in internal affairs has been widespread globally, and we hope it is now over. From now on, international politics should be determined by national sovereignty,” Szijjártó said to reporters in Budapest after meeting with the Minister of Scientific and Technological Development and Higher Education of Republika Srpska, Željko Budimir.
Szijjártó emphasized that international politics should be guided by values such as patriotism, respect for national sovereignty, efforts to achieve and establish peace, recognizing dangers and halting illegal migration, supporting families, and understanding the truth that humans are born either male or female. He added that Hungary’s cooperation with Republika Srpska is based on these values.
He noted that a new era in global politics is beginning, with relations undergoing complete changes, and those who previously remained on the sidelines will find themselves at the center of global politics.
- “Our interest lies in preserving peace and stability. We pursue a responsible neighborly policy and believe that, based on this, the will of the people in the Western Balkans and the leaders elected by the people should be respected,” Szijjártó stated.
He emphasized that Hungary considers itself part of a good neighborly policy, that Balkan countries are crucial for Europe, and that this approach promotes European integration.
- “This is not a process where we dictate terms to candidate countries, but rather one where we assist them in achieving their goals. It is also important that Hungarian companies have secured leading positions in the markets of Western Balkan countries,” Szijjártó added.
