The Serb member and Chairwoman of the BiH Presidency, Željka Cvijanović, stated that individuals from Albin Kurti’s political circles underestimate U.S. President Donald Trump and his team as they “flip the script” after four years, a pattern also observed among Bosniak politicians in Sarajevo.
Cvijanović shared a photo of Richard Grenell, former U.S. Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, on Instagram. Grenell recently criticized the Self-Determination Movement (Vetëvendosje) for their attacks on Joseph Biden’s administration, pointing out that they previously praised Biden and attended his conventions.
According to Cvijanović, Kurti’s political allies severely underestimate Trump and his administration.
“Everyone knows they essentially clung to Biden’s coattails for four years, and now they are changing their tune. The same applies to Bosniak politicians in Sarajevo,” Cvijanović noted.
She emphasized that these politicians hoped for and supported a Democratic victory, but are now attempting to ingratiate themselves with Trump’s team.
“Of course, their aim remains the same—to turn them against the Serbs and Republika Srpska. Yet, they continue claiming that everything will stay the same in BiH and the world. However, President Trump’s resounding victory shows that the American people don’t want things to stay the same, and neither do we,” Cvijanović asserted.
Richard Grenell, Trump’s nominee for Special Envoy for Special Missions, criticized the Self-Determination Movement, stating:
“They spent the last four years complimenting Biden and attending his conventions and parties. Why didn’t they complain back then?”
