Professor of international law Dragan Dakić stated to Srna today that proceedings against Christian Schmidt, initiated before the German Ombudsman for Human Rights due to alleged human rights violations, could appear on any Bundestag session agenda.
Dakić emphasized that he has been asked for patience by the German authorities.
“You see what’s happening there currently. They haven’t responded since they had chaos with their Federal Government. I expect this matter could appear on any session agenda, as it should,” Dakić said.
Status of the case
Dakić noted that there is no current information on the progress of the case, but he will be informed of any developments as part of his official responsibilities.
Previously, Dakić revealed that proceedings in Germany against Schmidt could discredit the German diplomat if the outcome is favorable for the appellant. This could invalidate all of Schmidt’s actions during his term.
He reiterated his support for the complaint lodged before the German Ombudsman for Human Rights, an office within the Bundestag responsible for reviewing allegations of human rights violations committed by German nationals and diplomats.
